Sight Specific: Lesbians & Representation was an independently organized exhibition of work by Seven artists which took place at A Space from March 4 to 29, 1987. The exhibition resulted from a desire to see specific lesbian references in visual art in Toronto and to raise questions about the relations - political, cultural, racial and aesthetic - between sexual practice, the production of images and the economies within which images circulate.
This publication was conceived as an extension of the exhibition project, and each writer whose work appears here was asked to submit a text which dealt with an aspect of lesbianism and representation.
