It is interesting to note how many breweries where operating in Strathroy during the late 19th century.

Richard Pincombe is a prominent landowner at the time on this map owning two tracks of land on the north and south side of the mill pond. In 1860 he purchased the grist mill, that was built by John Stewart Buchanan the founder of Strathroy, from Timothy Cook. It was know as the Strathroy Flour Mills.
In 1963 the Pincombe family provided the dam and millpond 40 acre site, acquired by Richard Pincombe in 1862, to the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority and the millpond has become known as Pincombe's Millpond.
