In this book the Greek architect Christos Papoulias presents two of his projects -- the Erechthonic Museum on the Acropolis in Athens, and urban spaces in Ljubljana. As Catherine David writes in her preface to the volume, "Neither monument nor formal gadget the museum appears as a pure topos: a contemporary mode of thought and experience of space and time, the antithesis to the museum as a transnational branch office and high-tech amnesia." As an architect who has lectured at documenta, Papoulias is outspoken in his case for democratic urban structures and this book examines at length his practice and ideas.
