The author spent most of his boyhood and early adult life in this area of Toronto, and his home for most of these years was the grocery store, to which his heart so often returns. In this book, full of nostalgic reminiscences, the author recalls his Uncle John and Aunt Polly who kept the grocery store, and tells of the varied and interesting characters who were their customers in the community.
