Alexander was a skilled printmaker and designer of bookplates and memorial church plaques. He was a member of the Society of Canadian Painter-Etchers (1918), Toronto Art Students' League (1886), Society of Graphic Arts (1904), Arts & Letters Club of Toronto (1908), Toronto Canoe Club &c.
