Most of the history lay within the memories of its original pioneers, but the older generations of Ojibwa visualized their ancient customs and traditions dying with them. These legends involved Indian life before European traders first entered the district and the changes brought about bu the assets and liabilities of 'white man's' influence. Then began the quest to discover who was the first European to explore the district. Although many records have been lost in obscurity, a memorable tale of adventure and perseverance
develops much of which had been preserved in the archives of the Hudson's Bay Company.
In more recent years, Ear Falls and Goldppines became activity centres during the Red Lake and Woman Lake Gold Rush of 1926 and 1927. Then following the great frighting era in which Goldpines and Little Canada became key points.
