David Milne (1882-1953) has long been recognized as one of Canada's most innovative artists. To date, Milne's work has received only modest exposure outside Canada. Although major exhibitions and publications have been devoted to his paintings and etchings, his brilliant watercolours, arguably his most important works, have never before been studies with depth. This richly illustrated books, with 85 full-colour reproductions, features five essays and an annotated chronology by leading specialists, and it looks at the artist in an international context. The exhibition and publication are designed to introduce Milne to new audiences and position him as a major figure in the history of twentieth-century watercolour.
